Angry flashdrive Write Protection Removal
Hi People,
Can anyone tell me how the heck I can remove write protection applied by
Windows Xp to both of my flashdrives for some reason only it knows so that
I can add files to the drives which I am unable to do at this time.
The OS is xp pro with `1Gb coarsair Memory 240Gb drives in raid1 & A 80Gb
Spare IDE Drive , as these drives cost me 3/4 of a weeks pension I am not
AHappy Bunny right Now .

Well, some FLASH drives have a little write protection switch on them, that's the first place I'd look.

If not, have you tried to reformat them in Disk Management?

Yes I have tried to format from the manager only results in the same message
Windows has write protected this disk I have also got full Admin rights & have been through the help files etc 7 just about everything else

What make of flash drive are these that cost 3/4 of a weeks pension?
I have just ordered a 1g flashdrive for £29 delivered.
We need to understand the type you are using.

Hi Bigbear,
The two drives in question are a Pockidrive cost£43 when bought the other
Is a myflash cost £26 when bought neither has a write protect switch Both worked fine 4days ago but there has been a windows update since then,a now I have this problem , by the way my pension is £ 84 weekly very weakly hi hi

I suggest you try them in another system to see if it's an XP thing, or a problem with the drives.

Hi John,
I have tried both drives in a laptop & they work OK so I guess it is on this machine
In XP But cannot find any way of changeing the setting so far there does not appear
To be anything else affected.

Can you roll back the windows update, format the drives and then reinstall the windows update?
