So if the plane your boarding only has a maximum of 90% of making it to it final stop, would you still board ?? One out of every 10 planes might crash, do you still like your "good endorsement" One out of every 10 DELL laptops might catch fire on a flight, do you still surf at 30,000 ft.

Comparing a satisfaction survey percentage to the probability of a plane crash is idiotic . . what other pc manufacturer has a higher satisfaction record?

Only idiotic of your NOT on the plane Buying a puter from a company that buys the cheapest parts and charges you a 400% mark up is idiotic. But truly, who is the bigger idiot, the company who sells them or the idiot who buys them

Not wanting to stir the pot but saying Dell is a decient company after seeing my wifes work laptop track record I can't say I could EVER trust a dell. She has gone through 4 laptops and had 7 major problems with her laptops in the last 3 years. Note that all of these laptops have been different models too.

2 HDDs failing (clicking nosies)
1 DVD Rom not reading anything (had to replace whole PC)
1 Would not power on (had to replace whole PC)
1 LCD stopped displaying
1 no video out at all (had to replace whole PC)
1 would boot to bios but would not find any controller devices. (had to replace whole PC)

Just as a side note I wanted to buy a Dell branded Axim though I hear everyone rave about them (and I like their specs) but I can't bring myself trust a company that has this many laptop issues.

Not saying Dell is EVIL I am just saying from the track record I see on her failures I can't rightfully recommend them to anyone as I have yet to see a rugged dell piece of equipment that has lasted a long time.

oh, i dont know, there are a lot of pc manufacturer's out there are you talking numbers or just % of sales?, Dell obviously sells a lot of pcz, but there are custom makers ie, Xi, Falcon northwest, Alienware, etc. their satisfaction numbers may be quite a bit better. this would require more research, and I'm not that interested, I'm completely a BIY'er. What are Dell's satifaction numbers? they are obviously gonna take a hit from this little debacle, however it really was more Sony's fault, however Dell is the one thats gonna take it on the knuckles, I'm not sure Dell has the power to sue Sony, they should though.

In my house IBM and HP. I still have a 500mhz laptop and a 1ghz laptop chugging away both with only minor issues and no hardware related ones over the years.

I don't care about the everyone else is mentality of just looking at satisfaction records to be the only direction when making my purchasing decisions and I really think those that do get shafted in the end.

Satisfaction DOESN'T come from just having a stable well built product.

Case and point - I buy a new PC for 1500$. I then go through 10 months of heartache with the PC but then in the end the company gives me a 2,000$ replacement PC. Am I satisifed? Sure I am I made 500$ worht of parts on the deal and have a newer computer...

Did I get a good computer though? Was what I got quality? No I meerly had satisfaction for the situation that occured and now 10 months without a computer.

I remember "Made in Japan" was a joke in the late 50's early 60's.. Then the joke was on the world as they advanced by leaps and bounds over the next quarter century. Oh Betamax, I should'a saved ya Somebody over there is gonna be doing the flying swan off a building or a painful Hairy Carrie. I've disgraced my Sony masters I must end it all.

that may be closer to the truth than you think......thats a lot of RMA's showing up at your door I think the Japanese still have that "personal responsibilty" thing working, as opposed to our "Bart Simpson" approah..."I didnt do it", and the ever popular, "police brutality" and "I'm going to sue", thats always a crowd pleaser.
