Want to Use Mic without a plug in Mic
I have a plug in microphone for my computer. I was wondering if one must have a certain software to be able to use the mic on the computer WITHOUT having to plug a mic in.. I have friends that use voice chat without having to plug in a mic....however they are not computer literate to expalin their software/settings to me. Any advice is greatly appreciated. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

Yes, the only possibility for that is if you have a laptop or a monitor with a built-in mic. But if the monitor has a built-in mic, it would need to be plugged into the back of the computer same as any other mic would.

You could get a Bluetooth wireless headset or desktop mic. If your laptop already has bluetooth in it cool if not then you will also need to buy a USB Bluetooth Wireless Adapter

Bluetooth wireless mic

Look up the specs for you laptop and see if its comes with a built in MIC. Or post the exact model of Compaq you have.

Which R3000: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/p...n&cc=us&dlc=en

Flip it upside down and make sure, it could be the plain R3000 or any one of the other R300x models.

Doesn't seem to mention a built-in MIC. But you can try it, make sure MIC is selected for Recording and use the Sound Recorder to see if you can record yourself.

Its a short range, personal wireless feature. Used by things like cell phones, mice, and some other things.
