Question Solved: Nasty purple screen
Hi i'm having problems with my display. After running for some time the screen goes a purple slightly flickery pruple, more to the right than the left. and when i move the mouse there apears to be a ghosty white line that follows it virticaly across the screen.(same length as the mouse shaddowing it) Viewing this web page shows areas of white (normal) lines around writing underlines.....

hang on a min... it's just gone back to normal again!?!?! this is a weird problem!?! slightly annoying!
When i got the menu up (with the problem)for adjusting the screen via the monitor for degausing etc the menu if uneffected by the purple colour, so i'm not sure if it's the monitor to blame or the video card. Has anyone had the same problem and knows what it is?

Hey,

When did this problem start and what software or hardware changes were made (if any) before this started to occur? Also, what video card do you currently have and can you also post your full system specifications?

crt can fail like that.

a crt combines the three primary colors to show you what
you see, it has three color producting systems in the
one glass tube.

if one color unit is about to die because of age, there is
a filament in there which burns out like and incandescent
light bulb, you can see strange colors.

also parts in the tube can get out of allignment and
cause color changes.

also if any electrical connection, either in the monitor
or out, is bad it can do things like that. i have seen
a bad cable connection from the pc or into the monitor
do things like that.

so a couple things need to be checked. you can
tell alot by trying monitor on another computer
or try another cable from pc.
