Printers Saying 'Not Connected'
Hey,

I really need some help. I have recently baught a new printer (The Lexmark X1270) and inherited the Samsung Laser ML-1610 printer which both go through the USB ports.

I have gone to the websites and downloaded the latest drivers and tried everything but it says they are not connected and turned on when they are and the green lights are showing.

On the Samsung one, there is an option for installing it all without having the printer set up so i did that. Then when it was done, in the Printer and Faxes section in the control panel, i clicked on the printer and on the properties, then to the ports only to discover that it was saying it is a Printer which goes through the LPT port (Printer port on my PC) when its USB but the annoying thing is, there are no USB ports on there. I have 5 - 6 USB's on my system but it seems to be just printers which don't work. I NEED HELP!!!!

I tested the printers out on my laptop and they work just fine on there. It must be something to do with my sysetm. This is really getting me down...

Any Help Appriciated as it could solve my problem.

Regards,
Lostock Kid

SO the USB ports work for everything else but not printers?

Have you checked in Bios to see that LTP is enabled?

You need to reset the optimum defaults in the bios and then be certain all usb options (except for wakeup) are enabled. Al;so if anything wrks in usbports, then you need to try another printer cable as well.
