Microphone.
I'm not a genious with computers so you people might be able to help me out.

So I bought this headset(with microphone) and I plugged it in my sound card. The thing is, my computer doesn't receive any sound when I talk into the microphone.

I decided to check the "Help and Support Center" in Windows to see if it could help me out.

It tells me : "To test the connection:

1-Open Speech in Control Panel.

2-Select the Speech Recognition tab.

3-Speak directly into the microphone. The sound level should register in the Microphone Level indicator. "

I went to my control panel in XP mode clicked "Sounds,Speech and audio devices" label(the only thing I found close to "speech".)

When I get to the next screen I have:

It's written "if installed" and I'm not sure it that's the problem but:

When I click speech I do not get any voice recognition tab.

Can anyone help out. If you need any more information just post what's missing and Il answer back as soon as I can.

Ty in advance.

-YZ

Click on Voice at the top and then Volume and see if it is the same as mine.

Do you have any switches on the headset to turn the Mic off

Yes, but it's an 1$ microphone still no sound I don't understand, since I re-formatted my computer I can't get my microphone to work.

Maybe I'm missing a pilot/driver, but I don't think so.

It's an MDG computer with windows Xp home edition. I don't think I have installed all the drivers which were made for my mother board as I lost the disc .

P.S Don't know if the drivers are installed for my sound card but windows does know the sound card is in.
