Do computers get slower as time goes by?
Even after reformatting my hd, I'm not able to run some programs as well as I used to, and it seems like my computer is just slow in general in doing anything. Is there something wrong here, like is it probably some program in the background, or do computers just generally get slower as time goes by? I've thought of getting a new computer, but that costs money I don't want to spend

Interesting question

I also feel the same but thinking that it maybe due to newer versions of softwares we install as the time goes on.

Which are eating more and more resources.

Or maybe we have became faster then before due to spending time on our PC and we want it to respond faster.

Howdy adanedhel728...

It's a possability...but your problem could be heat induced via dust, when's the last time you blew out the heat sink on the CPU ?

Or for that matter blew out the dust in the PC ?

Since you already re-formatted, don't think it's a fragmented drive, so I think it's probably heat induced...

JMHO...

Oh, maybe that dust thing is it, it never even occurred to me in the four years I've had this computer that I would even NEED to do that! Is there a place where I can find instructions on how to do that, or is it basically just open up and clear out the dust?

That's pretty much it...get a can of compressed air ( be careful here as the can can get quite cold, might want to wear gloves ), and just blow it out, concentrate on the CPU heat sink, as that's where where most of the dust will accumulate...

Good...Luck ...

Oh, and I forgot to mention, this IS a laptop, I guess that means it won't be as easy to clean?

ARRRGGGGHHHHHHH...

You're right it won't be easy...Ummmm, check to make sure that the fan(s) are working, then use the compressed air to blow out the dust...well...any where you can...

This is only a guess as to what is going on...but it's worth a try ...

Heat can cause a pc/laptop to slow down it's just one of the causes...

Other causes ( from the top of my old bald head )...

Faulty memory...

Bad hard drive...

Fragmented drive...

But I'd blow out the dust, since it hasn't been cleaned in the 4 yrs you've had it...
