Use a program like TreeSize to see what happened to your space: http://www.jam-software.com/freeware/index.shtml

Right click on My Computer and choose Manage then Disk Management. What does it say about your drive?

It says : C: / Partition / Basic / NTFS / Healthy(System) / 37.27 GB / Free Space=11.71GB / %Free = 31% / Fault Tolerance = No / Overhead = 0%

To sum it up:

You say that you have 8.95GB left
TreeSize says you have about 17GB left
DiskManager say you have about 11.7GB left

TreeSize and DiskManager will never show the exact same numbers, but pretty close nevertheless, but in this case more than 5GB difference? Odd...

Are you sure you haven't been drinking too much?

Yeah, this was happening to me, I deleted stuff to increase space, but then the space slowly kept on decreasing by itself !

Use spacemonger and see wat big files you can find. They'd be the bigger rectangles on the map.

Do you have hibernation enabled? that might take up some space
