How do I get laptop out of sleep?
I work from home via a work laptop. Since the last time I turned it off I can't get it turned on again.
I don't get a boot screen. All the little icons light up on boot, the fan starts but the the moon and Z stay lit.

How do I get it to start properly or does it sound like it's developed a fault?

may have developed a fault
remove the power and remove the battery
then plug it all back together and switch it on as normal

Thanks for the reply.

I'll try that.
I'm not getting any activity of the IDE LED so I'm guessing a broken hard drive. Is that what you suspect and are there any tests or buttons I can press?

The laptop fan comes on when it powers up and stays on permanently until powered off.
A bootable Cd-ROm starts off the Cd drive but it stops after a few seconds.
