Stick with your 7900 for a while... there isn't a 8x00 card worth getting at your price point. The 8800GTS is $300... but there are problems with NEW PCs with Vista and 8800s... perhaps in 6-9 months, it be good.

Prettymuch what Compiler said. But I am sticking with DirectX9 cards for a year or so, seeing as all new games with DirectX10 capabillities will also be shipped with DX9 so we dont have to worry, well...unless you want freaking sweet environments that is

Your choice, there is a new directX10 card called the 8600"Dont know suffix," with 320mb of onboard shipping soon, or mabey it was canceled. Im an ATI fanboy so I dont keep up with Nvidia as much.

Hope this helped

I would personaly reccomend the 8600GTS simply because it has more shader unifiers, which allows for faster processing. Still the 7900 is a good card aswell, I just see more value in the 8600GTS which you can also put in SLI "Duel Cards," later on if you see fit!

http://www.pcvonline.com/productDetails.aspx?id=5116
http://www.canadacomputers.com/index...id=999.243.390
http://www.infonec.com/site/main.php...tail&id=342193

Thats the one I'd pick It has almost 100Mhz more speed for the memory and with that rebate I dont think you can beat it! Before you buy look it up on Newegg.com though.

Go with BFG
I would go with BFG because of thier LifeTime Warranty and excellent customer service.

I had a problem with a 3 year-old card. the replaced it with a NEW card within 1 week !

But that is just my opinion.

Why the GeForce 8600 line blows:
http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2975&p=3
(Look on 2nd chart with AA enabled)

$150 = 7900gs
$200 = 8600gts... and its slower...
$150 = 8600gt

Why SLI two weak cards... total price would be $400~440.

Or: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2970&p=8

For about $80 over the 8600gts, the 8800gts/320 can be had... and its twice the card.

For the 8600 series to get respect, it needs a price adjustment.
$180~200 = 8600GTX (Not out yet, if ever) that is FASTER than any single GF79xx card.
$140~160 = 8600gts
$100~120 = 8600gt

(The above, based on US Dollars, and within current market pricing) - a year from now, the 8600 will be a lot cheaper.

Just started using an asus 8800gts 320 mb and even on a pentium 4 it's a brilliant card.

Probably no help.

I would get an 8000 series EVGA card for their lifetime warranties.
