Installed windows vista and it cant find my audio please help
Hello,

I recently got vista and upgraded from xp but after i installed it i have no sound. I went through the driver finder thing and they said i need to contact my sound card people but i dont know were to go to do that and i googled my card

thats my sound card...

i am not very good with computers someone said i need to know something about my motherboard but i dont even know what that is

please tell me if you need anymore information thanks alot

The XP driver is at the above link for your soundcard. I have no clue if it will work on Vista or not. I had no luck looking for a Vista driver for it.

I doubt you will find one,
Dell does not seem to update drivers for Vista on older systems.

I made the same comment only yesterday on this forum that this problem is cropping up more and more as people are upgrading to Vista.

luckily i contacted dell and they said they would send me a cd in a week that will let me downloud an audio divice so hope that works. but i have to wait a week

I have found that manufacturers are only supporting "newer" hardware. There are work arounds, fortunately I got lucky and didn't have to use any.

I'd dare to say if your machine is 18 months-2 years old you can find something that will work. Before that.....you need luck.
