Viewsonic LCD Monitor turns off and on constantly
Hello guys,

So one night when I left my computer on, i wake up at 3AM on a rainy night and i notice my entire room flashing (like from a tv in dark room). I thought I was having a rolling blackout, but as I got to my senses I noticed that my monitor was the only thing turning off and on. I turned it off, and went to sleep. The next morning I went to go turn on my computer and the monitor does the same thing. It turns off...on...off...on...off...CONSTANTLY (about a one to two second delay between each) until I turn the monitor off. The LED light is green. It goes from green, to off, to green, etc. I've had no prior problems with this monitor.

I tried switching out the power cord and plugging it into my wall (not connected to my video card, or anything)...no luck. It's definately the monitor. I don't know if it's dead or repairable or what. I often leave the computer on over night but i have a 10 minute screensaver and my monitor goes on standby after 20 minutes. When i fell asleep, my monitor was on standby (yellow LED). When I woke up it was the green turning on and off. Doesn't make much sense.

I don't have a replacement...so my situation is pretty bleek atm.

I have a Viewsonic LCD VX924 3ms that i bought around the holidays of 2005. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This monitor will accept both a VGA and a DVI connection. You don't say which one you're using but is it possible to change cables to your video card to either DVI or VGA, whichever one you are not currently using?

I have a 19" Samsung that has a dead DVI connection. Changed it over to VGA and it works just fine.

Give it a try.

well it's not about the video...i connected it to a power outlet, nowhere near my computer or my video card. If the video cable was the case, it'd say "no signal".

So what you're saying is that you plugged-in the monitor, without a cable hook-up, and the monitor turns on and off. Is this right?

Try what Chuck said first, but if that doesn't work then hopefully it is still under warranty. If it is, contact the manufacturer and just tell them it keeps turning on and off, don't give them any other information than that.
