Where did you get the drivers? Did you get any message when installing about it not being the correct driver or not having passed the Windows logo test?

Is that currently the only non-working device in Device Manager?

On the device manager, i have several things with a yellow !. I dont understand what most are and was confused as 1 of them is a standard floppy disk controller and the laptop doesnt have a floppy drive.
SCSI/RAID Host Controller !
Intel(R) 82801G(ICH7 Family) PCI Express Root Port - 27D0 !
Intel(R) 82801G(ICH7 Family) PCI Express Root Port - 27D2 !

there are also mass entrys for motherboard resources which i dont recall seeing there before my format.

if you dont get this mess straightened out I doubt the card is going to work

At the risk of beating a dead horse here, did you install the Intel Chipset utility from Acer?

http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/dat...8.0.1.1002.zip

All the drivers linked on that page above are for your machine, even though they may say they are for another model when you scroll through the list. If you click on any of them, you will see a complete list of the models that each driver is for.

I got all drivers for my model which includes the chipset. Those are the only problems showing in device manager. Im stumped, dont know what to do. No errors occured while installing and all were varified.

Edit : it was the official acer website.

Reinstall the chipset driver, remove all non-working devices from Device Manager, and reboot to get them all re-detected.

The chipset driver is the most important of all of them. It is the one that allows the operating system to identify the other hardware that is attached. So that may be why you are not getting your other devices recognized properly.

Do you not get any message that the driver is installed, or what do you mean that you don't think it finishes?

There seems to be 2 separate downloads for the chipset? Have you tried both?

http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/dat...80_Chipset.zip
http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/dat...8.0.1.1002.zip

There's also 2 for the network card.

You could also go to Add/Remove and try uninstalling it and try it again. It might help if your XP CD is in the drive in case it needs to find components from the CD.

well at this point I dont think this is something that is going to be resolved over the internet, if your pc really is choking on drivers then there is something wrong with it or with the way you are trying to install them. I would have a pc shop take a look at it, might be something easy that we cant tell from what you are saying.

let me ask this, how did you reformat and what OS did you try to install

Even if you can't get the chipset drivers reinstalled, possibly because they are already fine, I'd still suggest removing all the troublesome devices from Device Manager and rebooting, just in case some of those were improperly installed before the chipset was.

But, a question I should have asked before, why are you reinstalling at all? If there was a problem before, this may just be a continuation of it.
