Unhappy My audio device is gone.
Gah, I swear, sometimes computers are more trouble than they're worth.

I just reinstalled windows xp onto my computer, and with it went everything I had, including the sound apparently.

From what I've read in the forums, I need to download a driver of some sort, but with all my searching, I can't find one for the life of me.

I have a HP Pavilion Slimline s7510n Desktop PC.

MOTHERBOARD
Manufacturer: Asus
*
Motherboard Name: PTGV-DM
*
HP/Compaq motherboard name: Onyx2-GL8E
w/ a 200 GB SATA hard drive.

Integrated High Definition audio

* Realtek ALC 880 chipset
* Supports up to 8 audio channels
* Dolby Pro Logic II compatible

Please help.

Try this, I think this is what you need.

I had this problem about a month and a half ago or something like that. Took me a week to get it working.

Or you could try this one if the one above doesn't work.

That one is straight from HP.

bah, they would have worked, but I don't have "service pack 1" from windows, and I'm running a copy that doesn't support windows update, so I'm gonna have to basically get it from windows on another computer, put it on a USB drive, and then bring it to my computer that way.
it's gonna be a pain.

That sucks. when I get home, I will download the files for that, and then send them to you or something like it. I guess I could just send the link if I do find them too. I'll try and find something for ya.

Then that means your OS is counterfiet, so you need to buy a genuine copy of windows.
