Display on dell notebook stops working
Dell Inspiron E 1405
Intel dual-core 1.73 GHz
2 gb RAM
Vista Ultimate

Yesterday the display on my laptop started turning off randomly. The computer stays on, the music on itunes continues to play, but the display turns off. The screen glows, so the backlight is on. To "fix" it, i have put the computer to sleep, and then turned it back on, and the display is back. By the way, I installed MS Office 2007 yesterday, before it started.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to provide a more permanent fix?

This sounds more like a hardware problem than a software one. I searched but couldn't find anything related to Office doing this to a laptop.

Check Power Options in Control Panel and tell us what the shut off time for monitor is listed as, and the rest of the settings.

They are set to not turn off when plugged in, and it is plugged in. Also, when the display turns off when its not plugged in, it will turn back on when I move the mouse, that is not the case here.
