I have a USB sound card (TASCAM US-122), which I've had for approx 3 yrs. It worked perfectly in my old WinXP / Celeron 3GHz system... I've recently upgraded to a WinXP / Athlon dual core 4000+ system, and I'm now getting A LOT of audio clicks and pops during playback... even on default windows sounds.
I have tried all the XP audio configuration tips listed at
www.musicxp.net.
The motherboard is an ASUS M2N-MX, and I run windows on a separate disk to most of my audio.
*** It doesn't matter which drive the audio files are located on... the clicks and pops occur just the same.
*** When there is no audio playing, there are no pops and clicks generated by the sound card.
*** When I enable the on-board sound card and route audio to it, there are no clicks and pops.
*** I have installed the latest driver for the US-122 (3.40)
*** The problem exists even when the US-122 is the only USB device connected to the system
*** The US-122 is not faulty -- it works fine on my Vista laptop, and an old WinXP 1.5GHz Centrino laptop.
Any thoughts?
