Hi,

My Uncle has an old gateway PC that I uprgraded from Win 95 to Win XP. He has 256 M of ram and only a 4 G hd. For his purposes, this is sufficient. He has purchased a brand new Lexmark all in one printer because the old Epson printer finally gave up the ghost. The problem that we are having is that when we try to load the installation cd for the printer, the cd immediately tells us that the PC does not meet the minimum requirements to install the software. My uncle has a 433 MHz Celeron Processor and the software requires an 880 Mhz processor, I believe. My question is can I install just a basic driver to run the printer without installing the additional software that comes on the Lexmark install CD, and if so, where do I get the driver. And then, what kind of software can I use to run the printer. I am sure that there is a way to make these new printers work with these old computers. Any ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Most of the processing to do with the printer is done by the PC in Windows, unlike the old days of DOS, so I really don't see a new Lexmark AIO working on a PC with 1/2 the minimum specs.
