Solved: help with laptop please
My panasonic laptop CF-48 gives me a message while booting that it cannot locate the harddrive. So, surely it want boot. Is there some program that can be downloaded to repair the HDD?
I have a laptop HDD from my dead Dell that died from lack of power. I installed it in the CF48, but also says cannot locate HDD. It still has XP on it and I have no way to format it. Other than buying a new HHD, does any one have any idea's. Thanks.

It's not free but it will fix a hard drive bad sector...you can download a trial version but it will only fix one bad sector but it sounds like both drives need some work. Now the Dell drive may not start because the hardware it is on would be different though also.

If the hard drive cannot be seen by the laptop, no amount of software can help.

It sounds like a laptop motherboard issue since it cannot find two HDD's.

I feel like the Dell hhd is because it is a Dell. I have 2 Dells at the time and when my 2 year old died because of a adapter/mb problem, I tried to clean the hhd by placing it in the good Dell, but it said it was not made (for a lack of word) that laptop. If I could format the Dell hhd It could possiblibly wor, but I do think so.

well, something new. I turned on the laptop this morning and instead of saying that it couldn't find hhd or that it has no hhd, It said error reading disk, topress ALT-CTL-DEL to restart. I had a windows 98 disk in it one time trying it and no disk at all the next.
