how do i span my hard drive

i want to span my hard drive with my system partition onto my larger hard drive - is this possible and will i need specific software or can it be done with microsoft software , my friend said something about ghosting software. the file system for systen is ntfs and is about 10 gb

What do you mean by "span"? Do you want to make your drive and another both part of the same volume, or do you want to just move your system to the larger drive?

The bast idea would be to create a partition on the larger drive and then clone the smaller one to the larger. Is the large drive in use? Can you empty it?
