Hard Drive Error Code
I have an external hard drive attached by a usb cable to my computer. It is not a boot drive. My computer suddenly does not see it. (It does not show up in list of hard drives) I can go into Device Manager and it says the device failed to start (code 10). What does this mean? Is there any way to recover the data or is the drive gone? Thanks.

I did try to plug it into another port and it does the same thing. I even powered it down and tried turning it back on. Is there a way to run a check disk on it without it showing up on the list of hard drives under My Computer?
