Angry Toshiba laptop graphics problem
I have just managed to install windows 95 on my laptop. Everything is working alright apart from the sound and graphics...
Im not that bothered about whether or not there is sound, but I would like to be able to see the picture on the whole of the screen and not just in the centre!
I know how to change this - I have to alter the resolution in the display settings, but it cant be altered! It would be great if someone could give me further instruction on what to do here.

the laptop is a 'Toshiba Tecra 500CDT'

Thanks

Henning

do you know what video card is on it? If not, you could go to www.belarc.com, download/install/run it. This free small program will tell you everything (mfg.item) on the computer, including license numbers etc.. Then you can go to free site, www.driverguide.com (must register to use it) and find the necessary driver for the card. (free)
Good luck

I found a driver on driverguide.com by typing in the laptop model etc, but I put it on the computer using the display properties window and it asked me to put in a disk called 'chips and technologies windows 95 driver disk' I don't have one of these disks!
Do you know what I should do next?

thanks

Sorry, I think you probably need a Win 95 installation disk.......Maybe, a local computer repair shop would be able to sell you one? Otherwise, I do not know where to get one... perhaps someone else will be able to help.

I 'think' that the drivers should be on that disk. Are you able to browse the disk for a folder named drivers? (I know win 98 has that option)

I went into the drivers folder and then the display folder, but there are lots of other folders within there and I am unsure on which one is the right one - also do you think that a driver for that particular screen will be on the disk?

Just a thought, did you go to Toshiba to update your drivers at their site? When you go into device manager, what is the listing for the monitor? also, have you done the belarc program I mentioned in post 2? that should give us the model of the monitor....
Another thing to add to the confusion: In device maganger, right click on the monitor, select properties, update driver. You may need to insert the cd for windows to copy it off of. Hope one of these will help. Keep us posted.

I went into the device manager and it says the monitor is a 'Chips and Tech. 65550 PCI (TOSHIBA)' it also has an exclamation mark against the monitor icon, and every time I boot it up it says that the device is not installed correctly etc. I haven't been to the Toshiba site just yet, but i think i might have a look now.
