Sound issues
Hi.
For some unknown reason my mic stopped working last week, so I bought a new one, which still didn't work. And knowing that my sound card was getting a bit old, I thought that might be the problem. So I bought a new one...and still my mic doesn't work. I checked all the usual suspects-making sure the volumes were up and nothing was muted, and everything checked out fine.
Since my computer was running rather sluggishly, I thought I'd do a format and clean install (XP) and see what happen. Same thing, no mic. My speakers still work fine, though.
OK, so maybe I'm having some sort of conflict with the on-board sound, so I went into the bios to shut it down, but this mobo doesn't give me the option. Even the device manager won't let me disable the on-board sound. But it doesn't make sense why it worked fine for months, then nothing.
So, I have a rather new mobo (less than a year old), a new sound card and new mic...but I still can't get the **** mic to work!
Does anyone have any ideas about this? Could this mean I may have a problem with the mobo? There doesn't seem to be any problems anywhere else.
Thanks.
