Me and my brother like to LAN up and play games such as counterstrike and age of empires. Lately the network card in my brothers computer has stopped working. The computer tells us that it is not operational, although this is not true as it works in my computer.

Now it doesn't work at all, the computer won't even recognise that the network card is attached to it even though the network card is clearly communicating with something.

The computer is old. It was bought in 2002. You could use this fact as the reason why it won't work but note that it used to work less then a month ago.

So if someone could tell me why it doesn't work and how to fix the problem it would be very helpful.

i would try a new nic, they are fairly cheap, you say it doesnt work in either pc so that would be the 1st place to start. If a new card doesnt work in the old pc then a new MB etc may be in order

I would take this as if the card works, brite? I'd say windows is messed up. Of course the fault may still be in the network card. Newer ones might be supported better anyway.

Yeah, it works in my computer, just not my brothers. The network cards are fairly new so they shouldn't be the problem. It just doesn't make sense why it doesn't work anymore. I think I might have to rebuild it. Cheers

I fixed the problem. I just had to rebuild the stupid thing. Cheers. But now I've got a new problem Sound won't install. See my post on this problem if you think you could fix that. Cheers
