Solved: problems with alienware m9750 graphics drivers
lately my display driver [the card is an nvidia 8700GT] keeps crashing frequently: it first started only during gameplay then i tried to use the beta drivers on the site and then it started crashing while using windows programs especially when i'm online
since then i've used modded drivers without improvement
currently i've had to uninstall the graphics driver totally so that i can actually use the laptop

any help would be greatly appreciated

The first thing I would check is overheating. Laptops run hot; it is the nature of the beast. As dust collects inside, it runs hotter.

If it is only two months old, have you contacted the mfg?

Do you have vista or xp? This computer seems to have many problems on vista.

Post your temps including the video [gpu] temp. You should be able to use speedfan for most of the temps.

When you update your video driver, are you removing the old driver using control panel/program features?

As I thought those temps are very close to the thermal shutdown temp. The temp at which thermal shutdown occurs varies for each cpu however it is very close to 70C or so for the c2d cpus.

If those temps were under a no load or light load condition, they will get hotter when you put the system under a load ie gaming.

i'm currently living in africa and will be here for at least 3 years
it cost me $450 just to ship the laptop to where i am, cant afford $1000 to send it to-and-fro
any alternatives?
