Good enough to edit HD ?
I am thinking of purchasing a new pc and the spec is as follows, Could you guys give me your thoughts as to whether is will be powerful enough to edit HD movies ?

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
4GB RAM
500GB HDD
1GB NVIDIA GEFORCE 9800 GT

I would say definitely yes. Hope it will have enough powerful and quality power supply to start the computer up.

I would suggest maybe one or two changes.
Video editing is cpu/ram intensive NOT video card intensive. If you do not intend to do hard core gaming, I would go with a cheaper video card. Something along the line of an 8600 series card.
Next depending on how much video you intend to store on the system, you might want to opt for a second hd.

Thanks for the replies.

Its a pre-built HP system at a reasonable price so I dont really intend on downgrading the video card.

It has twin (forgot to mention it has twin) 500GB drives so 1TB in total.

Think I may have made a **** up though ? My new HP flat screen has a maxium resolution of 1440X900 is this enough for HD ? Im thinking 720p will be ok but not 1080i/p ? am I right ?

Sounds right to me. 1080i/p is 1920x1080.
