Is this my motherboard or something else?
I have got a big problem playing games. I can't.

For some reason whenever i double click a game or whatever nothing happens. It cant be a vrus, i have run about 6 different virus scans and malware and adware scanners etc.

I double click the game and a loading symbol pops up for a second or 2 then disapears and my computer acts like nothing happened.

I've tried running from the cd too.

It is possible that this started at the same time i started getting a missing rundll32 error when i try to do most things in control panel, but i am quite sure it started before then.

Anybody know what this is, I don't think it is anything to do with the software, so what else could it be?

It has been like this for months now and its starting to cause a huge hassle for me.

Well the first thing you should try is just to reinstall you oparating sys.
Then if it a SW but it should be gone otherwise if its still there its defenatly a HW problem, unles you are the type of person who reuses a lot of old SW and thats not a good thing to do !
But in my opinion its juts you windows messing about

Alright then, Do I have to purchase a new cd because vista came pre-installe on my computer.

Also, whats wrong with reusing old software?
I didnt really put anything old on the computer except a few games but aside from that everything is either a movie or came with the computer.

You should get a recovery CD with the computer in case of a problem like you are having. Reloading the OS is a comon task and unless you format or say you want a new install it will not overlay the movies or any other software or files you have on the computer.
Sometimes older programs can cause issues, but most of the time I have no problem loading some of my old favs. You will usually know right after you install it if there is a problem.

Most computers have a Recovery Partition to reinstall the operating system and software.

Is this game compatible with Vista? What games are they? Whats the exact error message with the rundll message?

The error message is
"Windows cannot find C:\Windows\Rundll32.exe make sure you typed the name correctly and try again."

The games have all worked on vista before meaning they are compatible though i had to change a few settings to get one to work.

A few examples of the games are the sims 1 and 2.
fable: the lost chapters
The elder scrolls iii:Morrowind
Zoo tycoon
And a few more I believe.
Do you have any idea how I would find this recovery partition?

Please tell us the make and model of your computer.
Then we can tell you if you have a recovery partition.

Sorry I have no idea how NEC sets up their computers. Haven't seen one in years. Are there any CD's or manuals that came with it? Any Guide or NEC utilities on the system itself?

Well there were no cd's or anything like that wich came with the computer but I tried system restore, wich actually didn't work but i restored all factory settings and it finally worked!

It took about 4 months but I have finally got my games working again, it was quite annoying having a gaming computer than I couldn't game on.

Thanks people, I'm happy now!
