Installing SATA HDD
To start off, I have a Dell Optiplex Gx110 with Fujitsu hdd. My computer got some crazy virus that uninstalled all of my drivers except the floppy. Ir also erased the OS. I downloaded XP OS floppy set from another computer and tried to install it onto this computer but once i got past the 6th floppy and i insert my restore cd the comp says that my hard drive is not working properly and that i need to run the manufacturer's diagnostic test. i tried hitting f6 at the beginning of the XP installation but it didnt do anything. Can anybody help? I've tried putting the Fujitsu diagnostic test on a floppy and running it but because i don't have an OS it doesnt start the test. Any ideas? Anything will help. Thanks

Use a bootable hard drive test. Are you trying to save the drive's contents at this point?

Free Hard Drive Testing Applications:

Manufacturer's Tests
Victoria for DOS
Victoria for Windows (Both versions of Victoria are among the best and most thorough tests available.)
HD Tune
CheckDisk 1.03 (Marks bad sectors as unusable.)
HDAT2 (Diagnostics and bad sector recovery)
MHDD Low-level Diagnostics
Bootable Hitachi Drive Fitness Test Floppy or CD Image (works on most drives)

Hard Drive Manufacturers' Diagnostic Utilities Links:

TachTech
BleepingComputer
