Solved: CPU performance query!
Hi all, this could be a stupid question with a relatively easy answer but it has got me totally baffled.
I have an AMD Athlon 64x2 4800+ dual core Cpu rated at 2.50 Ghz. Now when checking out its compatability for a game on several sites, it states its Performance rating at 7.20 Ghz. Iv'e counted my fingers and my toes but can't come up with this rating. You can laugh if you want or come and slap me if i deserve it, but i am genuinely confused......Anyone?

Hi speed_hog, the site i used that told me my CPU was running at 7.20ghz was www.systemrequirementslab.com. I'm using xp(home), SP3. The games i am running are HL2. DOOM3 (old i know but still classics) and Crysis. Now i know i've got 2.50ghz and it's dual core, but why do i get a ratting of 7.20ghz????? I'm confussed!

I think that rating is compared to a single core P4.
In other words, that P4 would have to run at 7.20 Ghz to match the performance of your cpu.

I wonder why my computer gets an "unknown" in every category, even while it asks whether the web site can access my computer and I allow it. Think that's true, the Athlon has more L2 cache, so it'd add up to something like a performance of a 7.2 GHz P4, theoretically.
