Question Mouse Lag Vista Ultimate 32 bit
Hi guys, new user to the forums. Have an issue with mouse lag that occurs randomly. First things firs let me explain my setup.

AMD Opteron 175 cpu
3 GB ddr 3200 ram
ATI HD2900 pro 1GB gddr4
thermaltake 1000w ps
samsung 19" lcd, res is 1440x900
OS running is Vista Ultimate 32 bit (UAC disabled)
Avast Antivirus
mouse is Razer DeathAdder current firmware and drivers loaded for all hardware

The issue that i am running into is that when i am normally operating the computer anything from internet browsing to gaming and even just in windows explorer i get random mouse "lag" where i move the mouse and the cursor does not move at the same speed i am moving the mouse at or as far as the cursor is supposed to move.

the applications i have experienced this in is GTA san andreas, Counter Strike Source, windows explorer, internet explorer, several image editing softwares (such as PS CS3).

I am looking for, if not a solution, simply an explanation as to where this lag is being generated whether it is the gfx card or simply the mouse is not polling at the correct frequency (currently set to 500 mhz). The lag is inconsistent as in sometimes it happens several times in an hour other times it occurs once in a whole day.

the thing is i really like the mouse in terms of comfort (i have large hands so its difficult to find a mouse where my hand rests comfortably), but i have seen a couple issues with it but nothing really that matches the issue i am having

If Vista has a mouse option in the control panel (or whatever it has for mouse options) that is something like "Enhance Pointer Precision," try disabling it if it is enabled. I had a similar problem and found that was enabled; as soon as I disabled it, my mouse moved as smooth as ever. In WinXP, it is in the Control Panel, under Mouse settings, under the Pointer Options tab.

turns out vista does have that option but it was already disabled,

anyone else with any suggestions?
does anyone know how vista actually render the cursor on screen and whether that may have an effect?

i think i may have this figured out, this is likely to be a video card issue, because last night i had serious 3d render related problems with frame rates dropping to 13fps in game, so i am going to have to rma the graphics card for the time being
