Printer stalls computer on start
Have a Dell 942 printer and when connected to a USB port it won't allow the computer to start. I found it was the printer by removing all the usb ports and then adding one at a time.

Tried a new cable, but still no luck.

When the printer is connected on USB .... and computer is started it shows a quick flash of blue "DELL" and then goes to blinking white line in upper left of a black screen and stays there.

If anyone could help with this I sure would appreciate it.

Thank You

Brian

What model of Dell?

Disable booting from USB in the bios to solve this problem, or turn the printer off while booting.

I can give more specific instructions after you post the model of Dell PC you are working on.

Go into bios and make sure the boot priority is set to hard drive first.
Remember to save the settings on exit

There is a BIOS setting for the USB that will keep this from happening. I think it is the No boot option under USB settings.
