Solved: Bunch of problems!
Sorry if I am posting in a inappropriate part of the forum, I joined just 10 min ago after looking through some threads.
I had a small problem with viruses one or two weeks ago and after hastling with SteelSecurity and Norton I managed to get rid of them. The thing is now I got a bunch of problems with my computer and I am not certain of what might be the cause of it.

These are the problems:
1. The computer beeps after re-booting followed by the screen not working.

2. After multiple re-boots I get the screen working, but a while later the screen can start blinking as if someone is pressing the Off-button like crazy. It usually ends with the screen turning itself off and I have to re-boot.

3. While playing games some parts of the picture disappear and become nothing but big, black squares and soon the blinking commences...

4. I get pixilated dots and squares on the screen in red, green and blue in random places.

5. The screen freezes.

6. As I start the computer the screen sometimes resizes itself into 800x600 when it was originally 1280x1024.

7. Now when I looked in the controlpanel I see that I have far higher resolutions to choose from than I had before, as high as 1600x1200 (!).

I suspect that the video card is bad, but I don't want to get a new one untill I am certain. Please help me, it would be greatly appreciated!

Try running some light applications for about twice the time in which you encounter problems with onboard video, if present.

I forgot to mention that the computer likes to re-boot/turn itself off w/o warning. All of these symptoms appear regardless if I play games or are using the internet, so I don't think it can be performance-related.
My computer actually died as I was writing this very post. Thank Gawd for FireFox's "restore session".

Have you looked inside the computer? Check to make sure the video card fan is working.

While taking a look inside the case, see if there's some cleaning to do. Dust might make your parts overheat.

I've dusted out my computer already, was the first thing I did when the problems started to occur a few weeks ago. And as far as I know the fans are working.
Just for the records I am testing another borrowed video card right now. I'll be back when I know how it works.

OK, so I have been using the computer with anotehr video card in and I haven't had any visual problems anymore, though now I face another form of error: I just installed Diablo II and when I try to run it I get the hour-glas telling me the computer is working, but after a few seconds it disappears and nothing happends. After that the computer won't let me do anything: Get on th internet, re-boot from the start-meny, play cards... Could this be a software or hardware related problem?
