Question Audio Help
Well, i wasn't sure which forum to post this in as it's a weird problem.
Ok, my problem is that everytime i restart my laptop, and then try to listen to music/audio through headphones or external speakers nothing works and there's no sound. The sound works perfectly fine throught the laptop speakers (but they are terrible quality). The weird thing is that after puting the laptop into sleep mode several times the headphones or speakers will eventually start working, altho this is frustrating to do over and over.

If it helps at all here are my specs:
Acer TravelMate 2480
Vista Home Basic
sound controller- Realtek High Definition Audio
processor- Intel Celeron M CPU 430 @ 1.73Ghz, 1.5Gb RAM

If anyone can provide a helpfull solution i would be grateful

First i would check you have the latest drivers, try www.realtek.com. Or you could check your settings in the sounds & audio device properties from the control panel.

Thanks for the advice. I already have the latest Realtek driver according to the Vista update drivers feature. And there is nothing i can find wrong with my settings, i think its a problem with the 3.5mm jack.
Can i install drivers that are better then Realtek, if that's possible could anyone advise me on whats best and how to, im not too sharp with that stuff.
Thanks in advance to anyone who helps.

If you already have the updated drivers i would'nt worry too much more about that. It's just the sound coming back on after several sleeps that puzzles me, have you tried other headphones or speakers? If you get the same problem with others then i would guess at it being a loose wire or solder. With you having a Laptop i can't comment on replacing your sound card, as i'm not sure if this can be done or not (perhaps someone else may help). But i would try and test it with some other headphones or speakers first, just as an elimination. Hope it works soon.
