Smile Assistance/Advice on what kind of motherboard to buy.
Okay, my friend and I are building a new computer, and we are taking parts from our old computers (that we bought new parts for, i.e. graphics cards, RAM, and a sound card), and combing them to build an amazing new one. We are both fairly tech-savvy, so you don't have to dumb it down too much. So here's our question:

I know dual graphics-cards are available in some computers, so we would like to get a motherboard that supports said feature because I've got a 128 MB graphics card (AGP) and he's got a 256 MB (PCI) card, and we'd like to combine them if that's possible. Also, we want support for about 3 gigs of RAM, and and Intel Dual-Core Processor. We only need about 3 USB ports, and Firewire ports are unnecessary. We already have an 80 Gig hard drive (SATA), but we will most likely be getting a larger one, or an external one. So yes, with all of that said, any ideas for motherboards? Also, any simply guides to building a computer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks SO much!

There's a good (in the beginning at least) sticky thread at the start of this section for building your own system. The new boards that support new intel CPUs mostly do not support AGP as it's quite outdated. Also, I do not think you could in any circumstances hook up those graphics cards for any good in a SLI/Crossfire combination. Any other info about those gr cards, MBs don't really tell anything about them. I think the only thing you could salvage to being used in a modern ?gaming? system are propably RAM, depending on what memory it is (DDR, DDR2, MHzs?), sound card, HD, and just maybe one of the graphics cards, but you'd propably be better off by buying a new, really performing GFX.
