Solved: Mic Problems Please help
Alright here's my dilemma...

I bought a new headset (Cyber Accoustics HS-700) and when i plug it in i can get sound from the speakers and when i talk i can hear my self but on Ventrilo they cant hear me and i cant record my self. I have them plugged into the front of my tower because if i do in the back (it's an E Machines W3052) i get no sound.

I dont know what to do.

make sure you don't have "mute microphone" checked at the bottom of Ventrilo main window and also check all the settings in the Ventrilo Voice options.

I suggest you remove your email address from your posting. You are opening your computer up to a lot of spam and malware by posting it there.

I've removed your e-mail address so you don't get spammed and also because we don't provide assistance behind the scenes. All information is to be posted on the boards for all to benefit from it.

In the sound settings, check to see what your playback and recording default is set to.

Check out this website
http://www.delback.co.uk/pcaudiofaq.htm#record

This answers many questions about configuring Windows XP for your audio input device. Possibly, your headset input device (the microphone) needs to be specially configured within XP's Control Panel Sound applet.

I dont think it's a config thing i've tried everything that evryone says but nothing. I was told by a coworker that it may be a driver problem but i dont know how to fix that and i will probabally just buy a new sound card next week. but if any one can think of something that would be good.

ps ty for removing my email

Right click on 'my computer>property>hardware>device manager. Right click on the sound card select remove. Re boot the computer and let windows find it and reinstall it...... If that doesn't work, you can go to the web site of the manufacturer and download driver updates from them.

double left mouse click the little speaker icon bottom right this brings up the play control go to options properties recording
put a tick under microphone
put slider up to about 3/4
