Does your desktop have a free SATA connection, or is it IDE?

You could connect it to USB:

I think you may still have an adapter attached to that drive (maybe not):

What is wrong with the adapter that you pictured? It looks like the right one.

i have removed the frame but still nothing comes off of the drive and the port in my laptop looks exaclty like this: (picture Below)

and my laptop hdd fits directly into it

so it seems like the exact thing i need i just wanted another opinion (as far as the adapter goes anyway)

that is unless you've got another suggestion for my other post : http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vi...ot-issues.html

The last error spells "drive failure" to me yet again, so I'd suggest getting an adapter and saving your files as soon as you can. You want that drive to run as little as possible until then, so I wouldn't even attempt repairing the machine at this point. After all is safe, you can then try all sorts of things.

I understand your frustration and impatience. But if you really want to save all that data, sit on your hands, take a deep breath, and wait for the adapter. Don't let that drive run until it really needs to.
