Ok, thanks. Just wondering, how should it run Crysis?

Dumb question, but what about the battery in my current (old) motherboard? My teacher said that they usually die after five years, and thats about as long as I've had it. I never overclocked or messed with the BIOS so I'm not too worried when it goes out, except I wouldn't know how to replace it.

It should run it OK. Crysis is a very demanding game and to get high frame rates at higher resolutions you'd need to get a more expensive video card. Up to 1280x1024 and High it should be fine. If you get a really big monitor and want Ultra High, which most people don't bother with, then a Radeon 4850/4870 or Geforce 9800/260/280 is what you'd have to consider. But since you have the 8800GTS already then stay with that for now as it'll do.

Well, I would be playing it at 1024x768, and I don't mind turning the graphics down too much. I already played through it once, now I just want to play it with a constant 30+ fps. Someone told me that I should upgrade my 8800GTS rather than my Athlon64 3000+ for better performance which I can't really believe.

For Crysis the whole system is important. Its such a demanding game it needs a fast CPU and lots of memory. And the video card is very important, but a slower system will limit the faster cards. So the processor, memory, and mainboard are the place to start. I can run Crysis on my 8800GT at 1920x1200 with the settings set to Ultra High at around 20 fps, surprisingly its still very playable at those settings and it looks amazing on my 24" monitor. 1024x768 on high shouldn't be a problem at all for your setup for acceptable framerates.

Here's the requirements for Crysis: http://www.crysis-online.com/Informa...0Requirements/

Minimum CPU is Intel Pentium 4 2.8Ghz or Athlon 64 2800+(3000+ for Vista)

Recommended is Athlon X2 or Core 2 Duo.

Minimum RAM is 1GB, recommended is 1.5GB.

Video cards are Geforce 6800GT for minimum, recommended is Geforce 7800GT.

The system upgrade is the right call, the video card is sufficient.
