Look on the board and there should be a manufacturer name and model number stenciled on the board. Post the manufacturer and model number.

The P4X266E-8235 you posted is the VIA chipset model number, not the board number.

The board has an AGP slot so it is not the latest technology, but you may still be able to upgrade to a better AGP card that will at least let you play some games, if gaming is what you want to do.

Okay i would like to build a new computer uder 800 would be nice
i use it for gaming both online and off, i watch movies so i would like nice sound and picture. I use photoshop, and have multiple tabs running on the web at all times im online. I need lots of extra space on my hard drive, for movies and stuff. and i would just generally like it go fast, i hate loading screens...

and think of 3000+ as the best of the best... with my current system i can run all the games on the market at great frame rates, i only have a 19" monitor and so i use 1280 x 1024 and i didnt spend close to 3000 dollars =)

Where did the poster post the make and model number of the board from which you got this information?

well, my uncle did sell me a crap computer, but it came with a nice set of speakers w/subwoofer and a nice 22" flat panel screen, so its not a big loss. What do you think i could sell (just) the computer for on craigslist?
I mean i thought it sounded nice on paper:
2.00GHz intel pentium 4
320gb HDD
and i surfed the ebay and found some compatible ram (i hope) for 30 bucks.
so it would be 3gb ram. if not then just 1gb ram

I found this site... Don't know if it's 100 % trustable, but it offered some info on the chipset features, such as the type and speed limit of AGP slot, and that it can take up to 2 GB of ?non-ECC?(if I rmmbr rite) and 3 GB of "registered" RAM.

Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128337 85 $
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115052 120 $
PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341010 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341002 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139006 50, 85, or 110 after rebates
Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129042 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119047 (I'd say go Antec, it's a little more expensive, but has way better airflow and has free shipping), 70 $ or 50 $
HDD: one of these should be enough storage? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148274, 130 $
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145197 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145194, 57 or 90 $ after rebates
Graphics card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102770 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127306 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127333 depends how fast you want to run the games. 140, 30, 95 $ after rebates.

Sub-total, 745 with best parts. And best performance per buck. BUT: I think you could consider a quad-core processor, Intel C2D Q6600. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115017 190$ (815 best total, 23$ off if you choose the "slower" RAM, 25 $ off if you choose lower power PSU.) You propably shouldn't skimp on the PSU and graphics card(as you have a big monitor). That "slower" RAM doesn't make that big of a difference, still, it might be noticable, and it's only 23 $... Of course, you can choose a smaller HDD. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148298 100 $

+ operating system.

Well, it doesn't matter too much, as you can't use any of the old parts (expect the hard drive, maybe and the case(not recommended). You'll need to get them all before you should start building anything. Just be patient, use your old one.

For something like that i could only recommend something like E-bay. Put a small reserve on it and hope for the best. Two year old technology, and falling prices for the latest hardware doesn't make for much hope. But i wish you the best of luck anyway.

You'll propably face a hard time getting over 50 $ for that... I'd say it's worth about 100 $, but you won't find anybody buying it that high. Unless he's high
