Solved: Trouble with Realtek HD audio
Greets,

Recently I had a spot of malware trouble with Windows XP and while I cleared out the malware I also succeeded in removing my Realtek HD audio drivers.

After I had removed them I tried to reinstall and I received a message that azmixersel.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Whenever I try to install them they appear in add/remove programs but no audio driver seems to have been installed. Now, even the message does not appear anymore.

Whenever I restart the computer it notifies me about an unknown PCI device.

I have been wracking my brain on what to do so I thought I would write here and hopefully get a response.

The problem is with an Acer Travelmate 7520G running Windows XP Pro.

Thanks,

-Chrysalis

I checked the acer site and I cannot find your laptop. I find an aspire 7520 however not travelmate 7520.

Next I would uninstall any audio driver and then do the following.
1 Download and install/reinstall your chipset/mb driver
2 Download and install the realtek driver. You can download this from either realtek or from the laptop maker's [Acer] site.

I assume you have checked the bios and the onboard audio is in fact enabled and not set to disable.

I got this fixed.

What it demanded is removing service pack 3 from windows XP.

The PCI Device after the reboot becomes an audio device.
Going into system > hardware > device manager notes a new device.

Clicking enable on the device turns the audio device turn into Realtek HD audio and audio attached modem.

After that it was a simple install.
