AGP vs. PCI
My son has a Dell Optiplex 150 Model DHM. It has a really junky generic AGP graphics card.
My question is simple, I have an extra ATI Rage Xpert 128 Pro (PCI) laying around and I want to know if I can uninstall the AGP card and install the PCI card. There are several empty PCI card slots on the motherboard.
This is evidentally not as easy as I had hoped because I removed the AGP and popped in the PCI and tried to boot up. The initial Ubuntu splash screen appeared, but that is as far as I got, it did not boot up. So I removed the newer card and replaced the AGP card.
I have the install disk for the PCI card. Do I first install those drivers?
I guess what I'm really asking is:

1) Can I replace an AGP card with a PCI card and
2) What are the specific steps in doing so

Thank you-

Make sure you remove the agp card drivers first.
Then remove the agp card, fit the pci card then install drivers

Make sure the bios video priority is set for pci card first before you put it in.

1) You can do it, but it does not go in the same slot.
