Question Computer Freezes...Cannot Figure out what is wrong!
My computer will freeze frequently. By "freezing", I don't mean programs stop responding or it gets overloaded. I mean the screen physically freezes in place and whatever sound was being made stutters (it goes da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da really fast with "da" being whatever note the song was on). Freezes usually last for about 10 minutes, then the computer will unfreeze.

The computer usually freezes when I'm running programs any more resource-hogging than a firefox, thunderbird, or word, though somethings the freezes are random. Freezing seems to occur more often if more computer resources are being used. When a freeze starts, the cpu fan spikes to near full speed and gets louder than normal. It stays that way and then calms as soon as the computer unfreezes.

When it freezes, the computer looses its wi-fi connection (through USB adapter) and I have to wait for it to re-connect. Also, when I click after unfreezing, sometimes it will act like I'm holding down CTRL or right-clicking, when I am in fact doing normal left-clicks. This problem will continue until I press CTRL and I right click.

Also, any keys I press during the freeze will all respond at once after the freeze. So if hit a bunch of keys on my keyboard during a freeze, I'll get that beeping sound from my motherboard like when you hold down a bunch of keys at once, when the computer comes back from its freeze.

Also, when it unfreezes, Windows time will start at the time it froze, rendering the clock 10 minutes slow per freeze. If I reboot, it will go back to normal time. Time will also resume to normal within a few hours when Windows updates the time via the internet.

I've asked several "techie" friends who seem a little baffled by this issue and they tell me its probably the motherboard because nothing else seems to be having problems.

Here's some things I've tried:

*Overheating- My computer fully shuts down when it overheats and my cpu temps seem quite cool.

*Corrupted Hard Drive- I've installed another copy of windows on another partition of my C: drive (which I re-formatted) and the freezes still stayed on the new installation. I reformatted my main HDD in September. I have a second HDD but that's used only for files and backup (and is almost a year younger than my main HDD).

*Loose connections- I've redone a lot of the connections in my case and that seems to be of no help

*Drivers- I don't see how this could be a driver issue when it just started happening more and more often as time passed. I can't really pinpoint any computer modifications that may have triggered it.

*Viruses- AVG says my computer is clean and up to date.

Also, I had this problem about a year ago, but it wasn't as severe and a HD reformat fixed it. Now, that doesn't seem to be the case.

If anyone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

Two thing come to mind, faulty memory stick or power pack on the way out.
Remove all memory bar one if that's no good exchange for a different one if after you've tried them all one at a time it still freezes on
to the power pack try another one if you can borrow one
