WinXP unable to read bd/dvd-roms after installation.
While I have built/worked on computers in the past, I am not too familiar with SATA and have never really had a problem in this area before:

I have just finished building my last computer and have installed 2 SATA HDDs as well as a SATA BD-Rom and SATA DVD-Rom, all show up in BiOS, and I have installed winXP Pro OS through the BD-Rom. In Windows Device Manager the BD/DVD-Roms show up as fine and working. However, these are not shown in "My Computer" replaced instead by four "Removable Device"s. Also, when I load a disk into one of the drives it is not read by windows, and when clicking on any of the "Removable Devices" it says to please enter a disk into that drive.

Perhaps there is something to set-up in Windows for SATA drives I'm missing? The IDE's I've used in the past have never been a problem.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

What mode is the sata controller set to; ie raid, ahci, or standard ide?

I have found that sata optical drives work best when the controller is set to native ide.

One item to consider, when swapping sata modes [and the system drive is sata] it often results in the need for a reinstall.

Changed to IDE on controller and am having same problem (I believe it started at IDE setting on controller to begin with.) However, I have been able to connect an old IDE drive and it seems to be working. I'm going to try and instal bd and dvd-rom drivers through that and see if it fixes the problem by chance.

Hmm.. Installed driver disk that came with motherboard fine, but kept failing to install from disks for the SATA ROMs.. Which leads me to believe this is a problem that occured when installing WinXP... What do you think?
