Exclamation Vista Problems With Epson Perfection 1660 Photo
I used to have windows xp where this scanner worked fine. When we bought a new computer, with vista installed, we had a lot of trouble with it. Here are the steps I did to download it to the computer.

1.)Plugged scanner into a USB port. Computer detected new hardware. I clicked "Locate and install driver software (recommended)". It told me to insert the software disc that came with the epson scanner. When I put the cd in, it said "Windows could not find driver software for your device. This problem was caused by your
scanner, which was created by SEIKO EPSON Corporation"

2.)
It then took me to this site . I downloaded TWAIN 5 Driver v5.71A kIy (windows vista 32-bit edition). Vista still did not recognize it. I preceded to download the smart panel and arc soft photoimpression. When I ran smart panel, it recognized the twain driver. Yet when I clicked "Scan To File", it said "Unable to access the scanner because it is not ready or another application is using it. Please make sure that the scanner is on and connected to your computer, or close all scanning applications." However, the scanner is connected to the computer, and I closed all scanning processes apart from smart panel.

What do I do?

Uninstall all drivers and related software for the scanner both in device manager and in Programs and features. Disconnect the scanner from the computer. Go to http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/s...ndows&x=15&y=9 here download the driver. Restart the computer with the scanner disconnected. Reinstall the scanner and drivers per the instructions. This may require installing the driver before connecting the scanner.
