Question Motherboard Virus?
Ok I have the weirdest problem with my computer. It was originally working and as most people i like to upgrade and fiddle with my computer, well I must have done the stupidest thing ever; I unplugged my sound card while XP was installing, it froze the installation and the pc would never start back up.
After a lot of testing I just bought a new motherboard, the exact same. Except now after trying to install XP many times, i discovered that it wont recognize my SATA hard drive, so I put in a torrented version of Vista which has worked before, but this time it gets past "Windows Loading Files" and then just stops. So then i put in an old IDE hard drive and tried booting up XP from that, yet still nothing! It skipped past the part where it gathers all my info and then freezes at 35mins left on loading devices. That has happened every time, even when I tried with a different hard drive... and when it gets to this frozen state, on vista and xp I can not restart the computer by the power button, I have to physically unplug the power cable.
Anyone encountered anything like this before?

Thanks in advance,

A general blue screen with a fresh install is usually indicative of a hardware issue with the OS and what your system is running. There's a conflict with your hardware somewhere. Minimize what your boot with in the way of hardware. Just the basic hardware and see if you can narrow down the issue like that. Jazz

torrented version of Vista
We can't help with an illegal version of an OS if that's what you mean.

There is nothing wrong with your computer, you can install XP.

You need to get the AHCI/SATA drivers on a floppy disk and press F6 right when XP setup starts to load the drivers. If you don't have a floppy drive you can use nLite ( http://www.nliteos.com ) to integrate the AHCI drivers into the XP install CD you have. Then XP should be able to see the SATA drive.

I have tried that, both the floppy disk method and the slipstream method but neither worked until last night it suddenly recognized it without me doing anything. But XP still freezes at the same point and still does not ask me for any of my user information.

Hi guys just an update, I tried to reset the CMOS by taking out the motherboard battery, I unplugged it and powered it down took it out and left it out for about 20 minutes. Doing this has made another problem arise, after I powered the computer up after about 2 minutes, on the Windows XP installation screen it went dead, but the power light stayed on. Now whenever I power it up all that happens is the fans shudder for a second and the power light comes on but nothing happens, no fans, no video output, no hard drive activity, nothing. I'm beggining to think I should just exchange my motherboard for a new one.
Can anyone think of any ideas as to why this is happening?
Thanks guys.

You had a problem, took a completely illegal, torrented version of Vista, and wonder why things go wrong? As stated before, we dont deal with anything involvnig Torrents or pirated software, and we have both here. The only thing to suggest is that you mat well hace virii or worse that have given th eproblems
