Solved: DDR RAM compatability
Hey guys, I am new here, but I found this place, and I am happy I did...

Now on to my problem... I have an HP Pavilion 505w.. Pretty basic setup.. 2 DDR memory slots.. I went to the HP website, so I know the maximum capacity is 1 gig.. It says that the motherboard will handle PC1700 or PC2100... Now, I took some advice I found on here and used a few memory configurators.. PNY and NewEgg and Tiger Direct.. They all say that PC3200 will work.

My question is this.. Will the PC3200 work? And, if so, what are the benefits?

Thanks a lot. I appreciate any insight.

The higher the numbers, the faster the ram can process data.

Just verified HP's website that your motherboard can use (2) 512MB sticks of PC1700 or PC2100 for a max of 1GB. I would follow HP's advice, and not the ram companies.

Thanks... I have been asking around and it seems that memory configurators are not too good... I guess I am gonna stick with the 2100... Next question.. any idea about memory coolers? are they worth it?
