Solved: Intel GMA 3100 versus ATI RADEON HD 3450
I am going to buy Assus T3-P5G31 barebone computer. It has motherboard based on Intel G31 chipset with integrated Intel GMA 3100 graphic chip. will use my computer mostly for 2D applications, editing photos, watching movies. I will not use it for gaming.

How does integrated Intel GMA 3100 graphics compare to Sapphire RADEON HD 3450 512mb graphic card? Would adding this RADEON graphic card improve the graphical performance of my computer for my needs?

I am asking this because while motherboard has a slot for dedicated graphic card I would like to keep power consumption (actually noise) lower.

Thanks,
Dominik

Radeon HD 3450 is quite a lot better, definitely worth the 30 $ or so.

How does RADEON HD3450 compare to NVIDIA GeForce 9400GT? Both come with passive cooling.

9400 GT wins. Only slightly, but still wins. Don't excpect to do any post-2004-gaming on anything but medium-low settings with the cards, but they will do fine for HD video watching and such.
