Is my processor bad?
Ok,

I bought this new HP case from an Ebay store.
I waited a while to buy the fastest processor the board(according to the specs.)would take.
It is a new pentium D940,3.2Ghz,LGA775.
Well,it won't post.
I took it to a tech friend of mine and he said is was the mobo.
So, I bought a new BTX Board for this gateway case I had.
Installed the processor and....no post.
I have exchanged all of the other components with thte same result.
Everything else, the fans, the blue lights and all comes on.
The BTX won't beep by the way.
Didn't hook my speakers to the MATX.

HELP!!! I'm ready to throw everything out the window

I tried to explain in the post that didn't show up that the long plug on the BTX leaves four opened.I was told this would not matter because the the main four pronged is plugged in.This also is the power supply that came with another BTX case. I think a 300W Bestech

Well the only way I know of to test a CPU is to place it in a known working motherboard that's compatible.......but I would more suspect the motherboard isn't getting power somewhere......could be the CPU but with the test .......

The best thing to do in this case is to demand a replacement for the PC as it is a new PC and should not have all these problems. You might have the warranty on the new PC. This will save a lot of time and energy for you.

Did this "New" Hp Case and Motherboard come with a processor when you bought it? If so try the original processor in it again. If not then this was not a new Computer as HP doesn't sell New Computers to shops with out processors in them.

How did you determine that the board in the new HP chassis you purchased would support a PD 940?
