Hello people, I really have a big problem. My computer windows xp started forgetting things like date and time. So, I decided to change the battery located in the mother board. I turned off my computer, I unplugged power cable, I went to the store and bought an identical battery. I came back home and I installed the new battery and I plugged all cables and I started my computer but I did not hear any beeps, those you hear when the system is booting, and even worse, I could not see any data in my monitor just a message from the monitor that cable is not plugged. So I tried a different monitor but i did not succeed. I bought a New graphic card but it did not work neither.

Please, i need your help. Any other ideas or suggestions to solve my problem

Make sure the battery is in the motherboard in the right direction.
The BIOS may have locked up.
Power down the computer and find the small CMOS reset
jumper on the motherboard.
Move it to the clear position for 5 seconds and back to run.
Check your motherboard manual for the location of the jumper.
You can usually find the manual at the motherboard manufacturers
website under support/downloads.
Then try it again.

double-check to make sure:
- everthing plugged into PROPER plug-in
- get a magnifying glass, check for BENT pins

Thank you for your help! I found de small CMOS but i did not find a jumper. If i remember there is some computers that don't have a jumper. I tried to remove the CMOS chip but I don't have the right tool to do it. I'm affraid the mother board wipe out "flash". What do think?

you will need to post your model number, etc,
of your pc for someone here to be able to advise you,
.
but i would NOT recommend REMOVING the cmos chip,
the PINS that were referred to are just mini-jumpers,
across 2 small pins on the mb,

I did what the instructions said but did not work. I did it again and i could not hear any beeps neither display. I was wondering if the processor is damage. Do you think I replace the processor or get another one faster compatible with my mother board will work?

before jumping to a 'probably wrong' conclusion,
the first rule is:
KISS - reckon you know what that is,
second is:
one-step-at-a-time,
.
if you aren't a whole lot experienced,
at building / trouble-shooting a pc,
and BEFORE you run out and start buying parts,
that may not be needed later,

It is not the battery that is causing the problem. You can even take out a cmos battery and the system will still post; it will give errors however it will post. Unless you installed one of incorrect voltage, then it might be an issue. As a test, why not pull the battery out and see if it will post like that?

Go back and recheck/reseat ALL connections in the case. It is not difficult to knock something loose while working inside the case. I do it quite frequently

If it still does not work after reseating ALL of the connections, you will need to strip the system down to a basic mb, pw supply, one ram chip, and video card to see if it will post in that config.

BTW do not attempt removing a cmos chip unless you have a high level of hardware skill. They can be somewhat difficult to R&R.
