Advent 8115 HDD Connectivity Issue
Hi there.

I have an Advent 8115 and i'm currently having a problem with my HDD.

Every time I switch on the laptop device, the power light comes on and the BIOS automatically looks for a hard disk drive.

Normally, after it has found the HDD the screen would turn on and it would start the boot process.

However for some reason it having trouble actually finding the HDD and it won't start up. I've checked all connections between the HDD and the motherboard and the first time I tried it - it worked again for about five minutes and then the computer crashed.

Tried to turn the laptop back on and had the same problem... the power light comes on, it cannot find a HDD and the screen doesn't come on.

I am hoping to get it repaired as i'd rather not have to buy a brand new laptop.

I'm not sure what HDD connectivity type is as i'm unfamaliar with this connection and i've been unable to find anything on Google.

Here are some specs:

If anyone knows of a way to get this fixed - I would be really greatful if they could let me know. Feel free to contact me.

Kind regards

Ash

If this laptop is under warranty srill you can use the Warranty repair option listed for your laptop. If not then you could try replacing the hard drive. Of course you would have to identify the type your system uses. I looked at the link and didnt see the hard drive type listed just that it was a 100Gb drive.

Hi there, it's already been in four times and keeps coming back with the same problem. There's definately not a problem with the HDD, i've tried it in another laptop device and it works fine.

It has this style of connector, it's not the same HDD but the connector is the same...
