Exclamation Monitor/ Motehrboard Problem !! Need answers quick
ok, so this is really bothering me.

I have this old xcel200 mobo, and I tried plugging it in power and tring it out. Well when i turned it on, it turns on, but the

monitor doesn't display anything.!

I have checked:

=2 diff monitors

=Disconnect/ reconnect the IDE cable that goes from broad to vga.

=Disconnected everything etc..

Also, i have tried using a tester for power, but is there supposed to be power for it ?

and if u need ill post pics up.

Thanks, please, any answer is fine.

If the monitor displays absolutely nothing, you have either a bad monitor or the monitor is not getting a signal from the computer. You need to determine which it is before you can go further. Connect the monitor to another computer and see if it works there.

Be sure both the VGA cable that connects the monitor to the video card is securely connected on both ends. Do the same for the power cord, that it is securely connected at the monitor and at the wall. Be sure the power cord is good.

Can you hear the BIOS post? Is that onboard VGA? do you have a video card?

If onboard - I'd suggest resetting the bios (removing the battery for a fair amount of time, an hour should do it) and see if that helps. If it's a graphics card, I'd suggest trying another card and seeing what happens.

Speak to me, the more information is better. This more than likely an easy fix and a lot of us are good at guessing the problem, but most are not mind readers

OK. to start off.

The monitor is not from a gfx card. It goes from the female VGA to something that looks like an ide cable, to the motehrbaord pins:

Heres a picture of what it looks like:

I do not here the bios thing beeps etc..

I have already tried:

removing battery and waiting
Connect/disconnect everything
Diff monitor
Diff Hardrive
Diff RAM
Heard no beeps

Very strange - haven't seen a mobo setup like that before. You said you've tried removing the ram - have you tried turning it on with no ram - mostly to check and see if it beeps at you. If it doesn't, it could be a sign that the board is dead.

Oh, but if the mobo was dead, the fan would not work and I tried 3 different RAM sticks, all the same PC100 and also if it was dead, the my power screwdriver that tests for power wouln't work also

I've seen dead/dieing motherboards appear to work but have no output - are your FSB setting correct for the type of processor you have? Wrong FSB will cause your exact problems. If your certain that the mobo is working, and that you've got the correct FSB, then the CPU itself may be dead....

OMG that is an oldie, are you sure that is VGA it may be an ISA or SVGA. But the lack of POST is a worry, I have seen a dead motherboard fan work that's on the 12 volt line but if the 5 volt is affected its still no go. A bit of a wink if I may, I have played with old set ups and they can be a learning tool but your money is better in a new set up. Check out some of the AMD 64X2 combo deals.
As I said if it dosn't post throw it.
FSB settings are in BIOS but some old boards also had pin settings on the board

Hi on checking out the manufacturers site the slots are as follows, the white slot is an Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) * Supports AGP 1X and 2X AGP cards. And the black slot is a ISA slot. This board supports VGA with a graphics card in the white slot. There is no onboard video only Audio. I do not know what you have the monitor plugged into but it isnt a VGA plug!!
