Solved: 3rd HDD install
Hi everyone!

I have purchased a new hard drive to add to my system. After connecting the drive, it is showing in my device manager, but not in 'my computer' When I populate the 'volumes' field in the device manager properties, it says the type is unknown, the status is not initialized, and the partition style is not applicable.

Im running a windows xp system. I currently have an 80gb C drive, a 300gb back up drive, and I have just purchased a 1tb drive

All 3 drives are internal. the c drive and the new drive are connected on sata.

any ideas whats wrong? any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

It is not partitioned, formatted, or initialized.

Go to Disk Management and create a volume or 2.

Right-click Computer > Manage > Disk Management.
